Card #17 - Criss Cross Card

I first saw the design for this card on SCS by Beate. It looked beautiful and then recently on the "Techniques" forum of SCS I read some discussion on it and it revived my interest to make this card. I've left the central area of the insert blank for any sentiment that I want to put in later. It turned out just like I'd imagined it to be, so I was very pleased!

P.S. I'm off for next couple of days and my next post would be in March! See ya' all then!

Nicola's sketch #2

I've been waiting to make a card on Nicola's sketch #2 and I was worried that by the time I get to make it, Nicola would probably take it down! Yesterday I got my Scallop and Wave scissors and was excited to try to them out. So took birth this card. I've rotated the sketch 90 degrees. The photo has come out a little dark as I too it in the night.

Card #15 - Baby girl

This is another "Baby girl" girl. I really love the PP from DCWV - it's so cute! The photo doesn't depict the 3-D nature of the flowers, I guess I should've taken it from a different angle. I'm learning slowly - when you need to show the 3-D nature of an object, NEVER have your camera orthogonal to the image. That sounds like Photography 101, wonder why it took me so long to realise!

Di's Jan sketch #2

I generally make my cards over the weekend, by which time I've just a faint recollection of the sketches that I've seen over the week. Maybe that's good because then I don't stick to exact sketch as a couple of details get erased from my memory. So here's my take on Di's sketch. Slightly overlapped the flowers in two colors to give a shadow effect. The flowers have been pasted using pop-dots but you can't see it in the photo - thanks to my photography!

Card #13 - Sketch on Sisterhood...

This card is inspired from the layout sketch at Sisterhood of scraps.

Card #12 - Glitter stickers

Not much to say about this card except that it's a birthday card. Yes the recipient's name starts with R :).
  • CS and PP: DCWV
  • Alphabet stickers: from Target. I got them in the dollar bin!
  • Punch: Stacking daisy punch
  • Ribbon: from Michaels.

I also got a paper trimmer for myself! It's by Cricut and with a 50% off coupon it just cost me $5!! Even though I'd read on SCS that Guillotine ones are much better than these portable ones (where you slide the blade), I figured that at $5 I couldn't lose much.

Di's sketch #1 for January

I made this card based on Di's sketch #1 for January. It's now while writing this post that I realised that I forgot the two stripes! This is an anniversary card. I've been using my punch a lot in the last few cards so that makes me happy that I bought it!

I wanted to use my brown CS as I hadn't used it till now. Then I didn't know what colors would go well it but as I started putting it together I realized that it had a nice earthy touch.

  • Stamp: SU! Just for fun
  • Alphabet rub-ons: K & Co. I got them from Michaels for a dollar.

Happy New Year

Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year! It's been a long break and everyday I had this itch to make a card but other things ate away all the time. I didn't want my break to end without a single creation so here I am :). This is based on Nicola's first sketch. I caught onto the card-making fever pretty late and when I did everybody was posting there 1000th sketch. So ever since I saw Nicola's first sketch, I wanted to contribute to it; to be able to claim someday that I've been participating in her challenges since her first sketch :). I like the sound of it! I used my new stacking daisy punch for the flowers.
