My new monogram set

DSC01670

So as I told you some days back – I got a JustRite Special Occassions monogram set!! I’ve been trying to use it for everything now :-D

The monogram part is embossed in clear EP so it looks very classy IRL. The sketch is little simple but I wanted to try it as everybody making monogram cards was doing it :). Though after making these I felt I could’ve made it a little more decorative…never mind there’s always a next time!

I must also take this opportunity to narrate my horror story with Anna Griffin’s black pigment ink. I used it stamp the monogram and it really nice jet black, gives a beautiful rich impression but the only problem – it never dries (at least for me!). It’s been days since I did this and I still have a sample of this which smears when I touch with my fingers. So the solution was to emboss them with the clear EP. It looks beautiful after that!

  • Stamps: JustRite Special Occassions set
  • CS and PP: DCWV, Bazzill, Paper Company
  • Ribbon, Anna Griffin black pigment ink, clear EP, nestabilities.

Ben Franklin craft store ROCKS!

Today my DH took me to a Ben Franklin craft store (how sweet is he!!) close to my house and I was awestruck at the products that they carry! They'd almost everything that I could think of. So many times when I see projects online I've to drop them because M's and J's don't carry half of those products and I don't want to pay shipping for online orders; but now I've Ben Franklin's!!

It had some wonderful wood and chipboard products. Among wood ones there were clipboards and several small cabinets with drawers and there was this mini-dresser to keep on your real dresser that you could paint. It was awesome! Then there was a set of mini-clipboards (chipboard) set that was so cute!

Can you believe it that they had ALL the different stickles?!?! And Brilliant dew drops and Versa color ink spots and memories ink spots?!?! It's a paradise for a paper-crafter!!

If you've one near you and haven't visited one yet - WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR! :-D

An altered journal

I made this journal sometime back but I think I forgot to share it, so here is! :)

A wall decor – Reduce, reuse and recycle

DSC01683

Have you had a moment where you were totally awed by what you made? For me such moments are rare and today I had one such moment :). I’d some idea before I jumped into making this wall decor but when I looked at the final result, I said to myself “WOW!” :-D.

Inspiration struck me when I looked at all the old “laddu gopal” (it’s the name given to Krishna’s idol  when he was a baby/toddler”) dresses. Every year when we celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, we change the clothes of our deity. All these years I’d been collecting the old dresses because they were so beautiful! I always thought that I could use them to make something and finally I did :). So what does a laddu gopal dress look like – here’s a photo:

I removed the top portion from the dress so that I’d a circle with a hole; dressed up the hole, pasted it onto round coasters for a good backing and that’s it!! So here’s my latest on “Reduce, reuse and recycle”.

A cool gift idea and WT03

DSC01664

I made this box as a gift; I would be putting some cards and tags inside it. Just love how it turned out, especially the coloring. Its approx. 4.5" X 6.5" in dimensions.

I wanted to participate in WT03 @ SCS and instead of a card I used vellum on this box. This is how it looks when you open it:
