From simple to bling-y!

I’ve been trying my hands at a lot of projects but haven’t had the time to share them yet; hope to do so in the next few weeks! If you’d like to learn about the body butter that I made, read it here.

One of the things on my to-do list was to try the rhinestone feature on my SCAL. I know what a motivation…(hope DH is not reading this!). So I thought the next time I buy a plain t-shirt I’m going to bling it up! Fortunately I got one soon enough and was looking around for the hot fix rhinestones. Then we happened to go to hobby lobby where I spotted this Glamor Glitz Iron-on rhinestuds pattern! What was even better, I’d a 40% off coupon. So the $6 pattern cost me only $3.60 and made my t-shirt…priceless (I know how cheesy!)!

All I had to do was stick the pattern to the front of the t-shirt and then iron on the reverse. And voila!

It looks so pretty now!! I’m so happy Smile

Create Your Own Friday #15 – Alter something!

My mom had been looking for a frame with 3 slots for ages (so that she could create a family frame) and every time I saw such a a frame I would think to myself “oh no, I would make a prettier frame for her”. I even told her that I would get her one and it got postponed, it got postponed and it got more postponed…finally I decided to put it on my to-do list and here I am :) Doesn’t it look pretty?!?!

I stamped using black pigment ink and then heat set it. Initially I intended to use my new memento black pad but it didn’t give me a good solid image – maybe it’s good for outline clear stamps and not solid ones. So then I tried my stazon black pad but it seems to be next only to the Sahara dessert when it comes to dryness! Finally I overcame my fear and decided to use my pigment black pad – of course it was too wet for the photo mat which is probably a coated paper. So I heat set it. There’s no guarantee that it wouldn’t smudge – I dare not try it; but then nobody does need to touch the print, it’ll always be behind the glass. I was at a loss of how to add a splash of colors and the prima flowers seemed to fit the bill. And of course, I HAD to use the new rhinestone stickers I got in the dollar bin at Michaels :) I couldn’t believe it that that was for a dollar – they’re beautiful!

Laura’s sketch #33

Here’s my entry for 2S4Y Laura’s sketch 33 challenge.

DSC03641

There are tiny rhinestones on the flowers and piercing all along the scalloped border. Maybe I should’ve colored the bird brown and that would have been appropriate with the color scheme. I’m into using my PPs these days because I have way too many!!

  • Stamp: Unity
  • CS and PP: DCWV and Bazzill
  • Prismacolor pencils, flower sticker, rhinestones, white gel pen, piercing needle, scallop scissors, cuttelbug embossing folder.

Red and green

This was my second attempt at Guide Line Two and I really love it! The alignment is just right. This stamp set if beautiful but its a lot of hard work! <a href="http://www.millan.net" title="Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net"><img src="http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/groooansmileyf.gif" border=0 alt="Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net"></a>

DSC02699The rhinestones added the perfect elegance to the card. Not sure if its visible but there are scored lines between the ribbon strips.

  • Stamps: PTI Guide Lines Two, Inkadinkado sentiment
  • CS and PP: DCWV
  • Versacolor fresh green and dark green ink, rhinestones, ribbon, nestabilities.

2S4Y #42

After reading Becca Feeken’s blog I got inspired to make a card with the sentiment as the focal point. She has such beautiful cards with that concept. And I wanted to be all in one soft color. One after the other everything fell into place leading to the creation of this beautiful card. To think of it, the background paper that I used here, whenever I’d looked at it I’d always wondered how in the world am I going to use this! In this card, it seems I couldn’t have used any other :). I printed the sentiment on white CS.

Its based on Kazan’s sketch 42.

Jolies Fleurs rocks!

When I bought this stamp set, a year ago, I liked it but I didn’t know I would love it THIS much! :). It’s been a year since I’ve had it and never have I repeated a design. Somehow I’m able to see the same elements in a new light. I’m surprised at the flexibility that they offer. The silver lining is their price!

No I’m not their DT.

No I don’t get a commission from them.

Just wanted to appreciate the designers (Lizzie and Anne) of the stamp set as I truly and honestly feel that they’ve done a job par excellence!

Ok, now coming to the card. It is also my entry to the CK Stamp It! Week Challenge.

I tried to create a grid like pattern using one of the flower stamps; colored the flowers, added a touch of white using a gel pen and put a rhinestone at the flower center. So happy with the way it turned out!

  • Stamps: Jolies Fleurs by Lizzie Anne Designs, sentiment is computer generated.
  • Paper: Bazzill and DCWV
  • Stazon ink, rhinestone, prismacolor pencils, grosgrain ribbon, sakura white gel pen, OMS
