Surprise card!

There are couple of tutorials to make this card. I followed the one @ SCS by Beate. You can see a video tutorial of it here by Dawn. I was kind of sure that when I'll make it the slider will not work properly because that what happens to me most of the time but I was so happy at the end that the slider was working like a charm!! There's a hint of glitter on the image and the PP strips. Since I didn't have a circle punch, I used my nesties to cut the half-moon at the top so that one can pull the slider. Simply love 'em!

Something's fishy about this

I got this image as part of an image swap that I hosted @ SCS. Initially I wanted to try the gel technique with it but then I'd this idea and wanted to try it out.

I cut the circle in the orange CS using nestabilities and popped the fish on the inside of the card. Then I glued a transparency on the inner left side. To create the border, I cut a violet scalloped circle, embossed it and then cut a classic circle inside it. Once again, very pleased with my outcome :).

Oh and I love my coloring on this one! :)

  • CS: DCWV and Wasau Exact Index white CS
  • Prismacolor pencils, OMS, blue marker, nestabilities, transparency.

Half an image

I saw the idea of using half an image on some blog (unfortunately I don't remember which one it's from Lauren Meader's blog) and got very inspired to apply it. I'm very happy with the end result.

There's faux-stitching at the bottom and the top. I think it was a very wise decision of mine to buy the "Jolies Fleur" stamp set. It is sooooo versatile!!! I'm amazed at what all one can do with it. The ribbon was sent by Allison, isn't it fabulous?!?!

  • Stamps: LAD's Jolies Fleur, Flourishes "Flourished Words"
  • CS: DCWV and scraps
  • Stazon black ink, Colorbox black ink, prismacolor pencils, OMS, starduct stickles, dew drop, small flower punch, ribbon, brown marker, push pin.

Another "Girl of the world"

This is another card using the "Girl of the World". I love this one too. She looks so cool!

So I finally bought the plumbing gasket from Home Depot...are you wondering why I'm talking about hardware on my craft blog?? Well I used it for embossing with nestabilities instead of the tan mat! I didn't want to pay the shipping and this was much cheaper than the tan mat.

This is the first time I tried piercing technique and I think it turned out well.

And the break continues...

Everyday I think that today might be the day when I could squeeze some time out to make a card but looks like that's not going to happen for a few more days :(. So hang in there!

Oh how I love it when I can combine more than one challenge into a card - that in itself is a challenge! Here are the two challenges which this card qualifies for:

The image is from "Girls of the World" clipart (popularized by Allison and sent by her too!). I colored her dress with a green glitter pen (while it was still wet my finger ran across it and hence the blemish that you see :( ). I'm lovin' glitter these days! The more the merrier! Now I'm think I should've called my blog "Glitters, etc." (LOL!). The flower is made using a flower punch, shaded with prismacolor pencils and a dew drop as the center. As you can see there's lots of Stardust glitter on the card :). Here's a close-up of the glittery part.
