Stretch Your Stamps – Day 1

I enrolled in the the Stretch Your Stamps online class and today was the first day of the class. It focused on background stamps which was really good for me because just yesterday I’d made some patterned paper using my background stamps and wondering what to do with them!

Here’s my sample for today:

DSC09885

Can  you believe that the only CS I used in making this card was a white CS?!?!? I created the patterned papers by stamping the background stamp in distress ink, embossing it with clear embossing powder and then sponging all over with a contrasting distress ink. I cut a strip of vellum and embossed it with swiss dots embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped with versamark on white CS, embossed with gold embossing powder and then sponged over with Broken China distress ink.

I intend to make a masculine (or unisex) version too using the same technique! Watch out for that!

  • Stamps: Impression Obsession Damask cover-a-card, Hero Arts Frames and messages
  • Paper: PTI white
  • others: Distress inks – broken china, mustard seed and worn lipstick, ribbon, vellum, swiss dots embossing folder, gold embossing powder.

More Jolies Fleurs

Well as I said in my last post this stamp set is simply fabulous! Here’s another card using the same stamp set (and yet so different!). After I made this card I realized at unconsciously I was inspired by an indian saree. To give you an example, peek a glance here.

Jolies Fleurs rocks!

When I bought this stamp set, a year ago, I liked it but I didn’t know I would love it THIS much! :). It’s been a year since I’ve had it and never have I repeated a design. Somehow I’m able to see the same elements in a new light. I’m surprised at the flexibility that they offer. The silver lining is their price!

No I’m not their DT.

No I don’t get a commission from them.

Just wanted to appreciate the designers (Lizzie and Anne) of the stamp set as I truly and honestly feel that they’ve done a job par excellence!

Ok, now coming to the card. It is also my entry to the CK Stamp It! Week Challenge.

I tried to create a grid like pattern using one of the flower stamps; colored the flowers, added a touch of white using a gel pen and put a rhinestone at the flower center. So happy with the way it turned out!

  • Paper: Bazzill and DCWV
