Bleached look with distress inks

I saw this video from Jennifer McGuire where she used distress oxide inks and created the bleached look by drawing away some color using a water brush. Since I didn’t have distress oxide inks, I thought why not try it with regular distress inks as they too react with water. I first embossed the images in gold and then sponged with distress inks. Using a water brush I then brushed all the insides of the images, absorbing the color using a paper towel. The sentiment is embossed in black.

You’re out of this world!

I’m always in the mood of making backgrounds especially by doing some sponging. So during one such moment I created this ombre background by embossing the background stamp in silver and then sponging on top of it. Once I’d the background I wasn’t sure what to do. Then I realized that it would make for a nice whimsical space scene! Hence was born my card!

The images are colored in copics. This is the first shaker card I’ve created. I used foam tape to create the cavity and added some martha stewart glitter (which I’ve plenty of!) to it.

This was also an image that was in my stash of colored images! I sponged the background using distress inks – Broken China, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire. I really like the color of Chipped Sapphire! The stars are doodled using a silver gel pen and the sentiment is embossed in white embossing powder.

May your life grow…

There are times when I just feel like coloring something. So I would stamp a few images and color them with no specific card/goal in mind. I’d collected a few such images and decided it was time to give them some meaning. I was quite surprised at how this card came together! Initially I’d these 4 colored flowers which had no coordination between their colors and I was totally at a loss on how to use them; but slowly and gradually things started falling in place. When the card was completed I loved it! Absolutely loved it!

Look at those touches with a gold gel pen! They look gorgeous! And those flourishes in the background? They added such a neat effect. I drew a border with a gold gel pen and embossed the sentiment in gold embossing powder.

Rainbow background

I had so much fun making this background and love how it looks! I pounced various distress inks on my non-stick craft sheet, misted it with water, wet the watercolor cardstock and then swiped it across the color puddle on the sheet. Stamped text. Embossed the image in gold. Stamped the sentiment around it in black. Easy and so much fun!

Anniversary Wishes

White embossed the background on three different colored cardstocks. Fuzzy cut the design and popped it using foam tape. White embossed the sentiment on vellum.

Sponged various distress inks on a white cardstock. Cut background using KNK Zing. Colored yellow circles using spectrum noir markers. Adhered pearls in the center of these circles. White Embossed the sentiment and then sponged distress ink around it. Assembled the card.

It’s been quite a while since I posted any of my creations. Life has been busy on my side of the world. I was able to squeeze out sometime for my creative outlet but didn’t get any time to share them here. Now that I do, you would see me sharing more regularly!

Stamped the background in walnut stain ink. Cut the sentiment using KNK Zing. Embossed it in clear embossing powder. Doodled faux stitches around the outline of the card using white gel pen

You make my world go round

For the background:

1. White emboss ticket stamp on watercolor cardstock
2. Sponge various distress ink ink pads on a craft sheet
3. Spritz water on the watercolor cardstock till its all wet.
4. Press the wet side of the cardstock onto the craft sheet.
5. Stamp with herringbone background stamp.

Rest of the card is fairly straightforward. Stamped, colored and fuzzy cut the carousel and balloons. Stamped the sentiment on white cardstock. The carousel is popped on foam dots. The strings for the balloon are hand drawn using a black pen. On and the sentiment – it was in two lines so I cut it out. Yes I was scared but there were no casualties

Berry sweet

I’ve been trying to create my own sentiments these days and this is a good example of that. The “berry” word is from one stamp set and the “happy birthday to you” from another. They’re white embossed on vellum.

For the strawberries, I stamped them in distress inks and embossed them with clear embossing powder. After the first embossing while the powder was still hot, I embossed it again with the clear powder to give it more dimension. I think I’m pleased with how it turned out!

I masked the card panel using masking tape and then stamped herringbone background in weathered wood. Cut a thin strip of red cardstock and added it to the border. Added the sentiment and then popped the strawberries using some foam squares.

Things that matter most…

The design of this card took a different turn midway. My original idea was to mask an oval and have the flowers and the sentiment in the same layer. With the masking done, I thought it would be nice to emboss the oval using the nestabilities. That my friends was not a good decision. While embossing the oval die was not perfectly centered over the masked oval. So I decided to just cut out the oval. Still happy with the results!

Colored the flowers using spectrum noir markers and white embossed the sentiment.

You rocked it

 

This was quite a simple and fun card to make! For the chalboard effect, I stamped the sentiments in white pigment ink and then went over them with a white pencil. To highlight one sentiment of all, I embossed it in white embossing powder. Then doodled some stas with white pencil.

It’s time to say…

To create the background: dab salty ocean and tumbled glass on Honeycomb embossing folder. Spritz it with water. Emboss a watercolor cardstock using the embossing folder.

Clear embosssed the cuckoo clock. For the alarm clock, stamped it in black on white cardstock and then colored it with Spectrum noir markers. Stamped the sentiment on vellum using Milo’s ABC.

Western themed goodbye

The background was created by sponging barn door, pickled raspberry and dusty concord.

For the sentiment, I cut it out using Zing and then double embossed it in clear embossing powder. Stamped the moon in white pigment ink and went over it with white gel pen. Stamped the cowboy in black and the cactii in walnut stain. Tore same random strips from brown cardstock to create the desert.

Thank you card

To create the background: I sponged the card with Antique Linen first. Then stamped music background with Antique Linen and finally sponged around the edges with Walnut Stain.

Stamped the thank you on brown cardstock and embossed it in gold embossing powder. Distressed the edges using a ruler. Punched a hole and put in an eyelet.

Always and forever

Sponged the card base (watercolor paper) with Distress Ink dusty concord. Then stamped the Wallpaper BG stamp. Die cut a circle in the card front. Stamped the penny black image. Colored with distress inks and water brush. Stamped the sentiment in versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. Created two lines with glossy accents and sprinkled some glitter on them. Fuzzy cut hearts, colored them red and covered with glossy accents. Then popped them with foam dots.

Colored the rocket using spectrum noir markers. Stamped the star in Palette white ink and the planet in versamark. The sentiment is white embossed.

Happy Birthday

This is the first card I'm posting where I've used Spectrum noir markers. They're alcohol markers like Copic but very reasonably priced! So far I've been having fun with them. I haven't used copies so I can't compare but I can tell you that I've no regrets buying these markers. I now own most of the 6 packs.

The flowers are colored using crafter's companion cardstock - I found it to be awesome for coloring. It was so easy to do blending. I was having a hard time blending on PTI CS.
