Create Your Own Friday #12 – A notecard set

I made this notecard set to give to a friend. The wooden purse box was covered using PP and I found that KI Memories paper is just the right thickness for this job. Not to forget that it looks beautiful! Then I made coordinating notecards and envelopes. The notecards are 3.25 X 3.25 inches in size and the envelopes are 3.5 X 3.5 inches in size. The envelopes were a tad difficult to fit it so next time maybe I should go for a quarter inch shorter. This is the first time I made envelopes on my own but was very happy with it. I’d this nice thick cotton paper which was just perfect to make the envelopes!

Anniversary album

I created this anniversary album. It is an altered photo album and there are pages to write about the marriage,etc. and then there’s a page for each year of marriage. On the left you can put a photo, while on the right you can write. Below are the samples:

Box for cards and whole lotta tags!

Ok I was so loving the process of making these tags that I made them in every possible combination I could think of; what could I do, I just loved them! This set from Inkadinkado is one of my favorites. I also wanted to use my new crop-a-dile so this was my excuse for using it :)

Then I thought I would make a gift box for my friends which could contain some cards and tags. So here it is:

The border is created using a scalloped scissors and crop-a-dile. Doesn't it look like the "threading water punch"?

Did you know that in Live Writer, when you insert a picture in your post it gives you the ability to add a watermark?!?! That's what I did above. Isn't that cool?!?!

A new box

I was so dying to make this box since I saw Debbie's box that I was really excited when I got a chance! I wanted to make a gift of these Ghirardelli squares and decided that this kind of a box would be perfect. It fits 9 squares: 3 pieces in each of the 3 rows.

This was the first time I was making it all on my own: creating my own template, figuring out the dimensions, yadda yadda yadda; it does need some fine tuning for next time. Some things to change in future:

1. I think a solid cardstock would look better than the printed one as it would bring out the colors in the Ghirardelli squares. In it's present state, it looks a little busy.
2. I think 9 squares are too much to hold in the box. Maybe 6 would've been better.
3. I should add some corner flaps to give it more stability.

The Penny black stamp is from the Penny black clear stamp set that I got from my parents as a birthday gift recently. Of course they have no clue about these stamp sets :); I just tell them I want to buy it on my b'day - so simple!. Oh and I also got a crop-a-dile for my b'day and JustRite stamp set (which is on its way) and whole lotta ribbon!

On this one I used a quit pattern. When my DH saw it, his first question was "why's that bird crying?" :)!

I'm back!!

Yes I've been MIA; first a vacation and then a move. We moved to the Pacific north-west!

I'd made a couple of things in this duration but never got a chance to show them off :).

These are the acetate boxes to hold chakli (a south indian savoury, an absolutely delicious snack!) , which is also home-made. I gave these to my family and they all loved it!

This was for my aunt's 25th anniversary. My mom wanted to send something which had "25th anniversary" written on it and since everything in the market seemed to exorbitantly priced I'd the idea to make this. I printed a poem on silver CS and inserted it on the right side of the photo frame. The stickers are glued on top of the glass and not inside.

 

I was always so afraid whether I would be able to do justice to this peacock image that I would never pick it up until now when my DH said it would be nice to use this image. I'm glad that it turned out well!

I'll soon start my blurfing to see your beautiful creations which I've been devoid of for so long!

Mother's day gift - a stationery set

Here's what going to my Mom this MD! When I saw this wood purse at Michaels I immediately wanted to do something with it; it looked so cute. Then I was looking around and found some videos by ChicnScratch on Youtube for post-it holders and notepad covers. So I thought that I could combine all the ideas into one project.

Initially I painted the whole purse but I didn't like the final look so then I covered it with this beautiful paper from DCWV. It's not apparent in the photo but the paper has some glitter here and there which looks very beautiful! After covering with the paper, I then did 2-3 coats of Mod Podge (Satin, Hardcoat). It's water-resistant and it dries up to give a nice satin finish.

The video on post-it holder was for square coasters but I could only find these round ones at M's and I liked them. Covered them with DP and sanded the sides to get an even border. When I used to see people mention about sanding, I never realized the difference it would make; but when I did it myself I could see that it makes it so even!

The notepad has a magnet at the back so that it can put on the fridge. I used notepads similar to this. Covered them with DP. Another thing that I didn't know about was that you can easily cut a magnetic strip with your regular scissors. When I bought it I wasn't sure and asked the people at M's and they weren't sure either but it cuts very smoothly! I used ProMag Magnetic Strip Tape.

Both the things fit into the purse, for clarity purposes I photographed them outside the purse.
