40th Birthday

The inspiration for the background came from here. I wanted to recreate the background. So I created a polka dot SVG in MTC and cut it out in blue using KNK Zing. Then added a layer of red to bottom. Using a white gel pen, I added some dots around the circles. The sentiment happy is hand cut and hand written; then adhered on a twine. 40th was first cut using KNK Zing then covered in glue using Zig glue pen and foiled with the Minc. Love how it turned out! The sentiment “birthday” is from a Stampendous stamp set.

Hello Kitty card

Made this card for my friend’s daughter who’s very fond of hello kitty these days/ I loved how it turned out! Downloaded an SVG for hello kitty from the interwebs and cut it out using my KNK Zing. All the cardstock for cutting out Hello Kitty is Recollection cardstock. The base of the card is Papertrey Ink. The stamp is from Hero Arts.

Stained glass look

I used the same stencil pattern as I did here. Instead of using a blade, I used a sharpie marker to draw with my Zing on acetate cardstock. Then colored on the back of the acetate with various sharpie/bic markers. I die cut the window using Nestabilities. The panel is adhered on foam tape to the base cardstock.

Glittered stencil

Ooh I love what I did here . I used the stained glass pattern here and traced it in MTC. Then I used the technique described here to do the glitter part. The “Mother’s” is also cut out using Zing. White embossed “happy” and “day”. Rounded the corner using the We r memory’' keeper’s corner chomper.

Clean and Simple sketch 312

I saw this sketch on the Clean and Simple blog and got motivated to make a card on it. The card is pretty simple:

1. Stamped the music background in Antique linen distress ink.
2. I colored clear rhinestones in three different colors using my spectrum noir markers.
3. Using a scale, I marked the line 1/3rd the distance from the right edge. Then I marked the centers for each rhinestone. I did the same for the next two rows.
4. Using the marked centers, I glued the rhinestones.
5. Cut Happy Birthday using KNK Zing. Adhered it to the card panel using foam tape.
6. Covered the sentiment in glossy accents.

Putting intricate images like the sentiment on foam tape requires a lot of patience! Very happy with the card, especially the rhinestones

Life is what happens

Ooh I love what I did with this sentiment stamp . You would be surprised to see how it looks originally!!! I cut out Life using Zing and then covered it with glossy accents to give it a… well glossy look! Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment on paper and cut out the words randomly depending on how they would fit. You don’t even need a stamp for this, you could print it out using your computer and then cut out the words.

A close look at how glossy “life looks:

For the background I sponged mustard seed, orange marmalade and dusty concord. Then stamped a flourish using dusty concord.

Always

Remember this card? I figured I could make good use of the leftover circle from that card. For the sentiment, for the first time I cut out my sentiment stamp!!! I always saw jennifer mcquire do it but was always scared. However for this card I took a bold step and glad that I did!

Cut out always using Zing and then covered it with glossy accents. Colored clear rhinestones using sharpies to make them match the glitter colors.

Congratulations on your new home

This is a gate fold card.

I was looking for a wreath SVG file when I found this. I used the base wreath from there, designed my own door, leaves and flowers. Dotted the center of the flowers with liquuid pearl. It was quite a pain to adhere all the tiny leaves; but it made me happy! Printed the sentiment on vellum.

Another version…

Here’s another card using the same technique as I used in the previous card. In this case, the edges of the oval were a little rough due to some “accidents” and so I added a oval outline using black cardstock. Like they say “every mistake is an opportunity to embellish”

Glittered sentiment

This card follows the same technique as my last card.

Cover your cardstock with double sided adhesive tape/sheet. Die-cut the sentiment, with the die on top of the side with the liner (for the double sided adhesive tape). In my case I die cut the sentiment using Zing, my electronic die cutter. While die cutting make sure that you don’t cut all the way through. In fact you just need a light enough impression that it cuts through the liner of the double sided adhesive tape.

Remove liner for C, N, R and T.  Alternate letters in “CONGRATS”

Pour purple glitter on it, burnish it with a bone folder and then clear away the excess using a painting brush with soft bristles.

Do the same for gold glitter.

And lastly with the background, silver.

After finishing all colors, pour some glossy accents on your craft sheet. Using your finger spread it over the glitter. This will seal the glitter and you wouldn’t have the recipient having glitter all over them.

Stamped the Damask background using Aged linen.

And finally add the glittered panel to the base using some foam tape.

Background die cut and scraps

I was inspired by one of Kristina Werner’s cards. I realized that it gave me an opportunity to not only use my scraps but also cut a background using my Zing.

I got the background from Bird’s Cards; adjusted it to an A2 card size and cut it on white cardstock. Cut copy paper to A2 size and cut strips of cardstock. Glue these strips to the copy paper. Adhere the die cut background on top of the strips. Cut out an oval using nestabilities. Stamped the sentiment on the base and popped up the panel on dimensionals.

Inlaid die cuts

Inlaid die cuts seem to be all the fad these days so I wanted to try it out. This card uses the same SVG that I used for  my previous card. Instead of using dies, I used electronic die cuts made with my Zing. I cut the negative die cut on white cardstock, the rose in pink and leaves in green. Adhered a piece of copy paper to the back of the white cardstock. Then glued the rose and leaves in their respective positions.  Stamped the greeting in black. Very pleased with my card and my Zing

Watercoloring using stencil

I created a stencil using my Zing and cardstock. Put the stencil on a watercolor paper and taped it (so it doesn’t move). Then colored inside the stencil using distress inks. Stamped some birthday stamps using second generation stamping in Weathered wood. Doodled a frame using black pen.

Mother’s day card

I used my Zing all the way to make this card. The doily are some SVG files I downloaded from MTCSCAL efiles quite some time back. It was a single doily and with some editing, I created two doily layers out of it. I love how the Zing could cut such an intricate design in PTI 110lb cardstock! Then used Sharpies in Zing to write the greeting and then cut it out too! This was the first time I tried that out and the more I use my Zing the more I love it (and MTC). It did take some trial and errors to get the placement right, but that’s expected. I use the WYSIWIG feature in MTC to write and then cut out the circle. Some pearls and glitter, and the perfect mother’s day card is ready
